PURPOSE: To make turbid water dischargeable by admixing the turbid water with a mixture of sodium alginate and reaction retarder, adding a polyvalent metal salt, passing the mixture through a screen seaprator to separate it into solid and separated water and dehydrating the solid into cake.
CONSTITUTION: An aq. soln. of sodium alginate and reaction retarder is added to a turbid water continuously transported by a pump 16 on the main pipe 17 side and forcedly mixed by mixers (a) and (c). A soln. of calcium chloride is added to the mixture to promote the gelling by mixers (b) and (d). The obtained suspension is passed through a screen separator 29 from a main liq. pipe 20 and separated into solid and separated water, and the solid is sent to a dehydration stage by a Mono pump 30 and the separated water to a concentration stage. The solid is compressed by a dehydrator 31 into cake 32, and the separated water is sent to a thickener 33 through a pipeline 34 and discharged.
