To provide a process and equipment which can use the waste matters from scallops as a raw material for animal feeds or fertilizers by removing heavy metals from the waste matters of scallops.
The waste matters from scallops are stirred together with fresh water in the washing tank 16 to effect washing and the washing mixture is separated with a dehydrator into the solid matter and the waste water containing a small amount of the waste matter whereby the solid matter free from heavy metals is obtained. This solid matter is used as a raw material to produce animal feed or fertilizer. In the meantime, the waste water containing a small-amount of waste matter recovered after the phase separation is heated in the coagulation tank 36 to coagulate the heavy metals together with protein, then the sludge containing the heavy metals coagulated together with protein is recovered using a decanter 38 and the recovered sludge is incinerated.
