PURPOSE: To provide a novel triazolylsulfonamide for herbicides, plant growth inhibitors, etc., which has herbicidal and plant growth inhibitive properties, selectively control weeds in cultivation of useful plants at a low application rate and prohibits the growth of the undesirable plants.

CONSTITUTION: The triazopyrimidinyl sulfonyl chloride expressed by formula I (X, Y, Z are each H, 1 to 4C alkyl, phenylthio, benzylthio, etc.) is brought into reaction with the aniline deriv. expressed by formula II (R1 is halogen, phenyl, 1 to 4C alkyl, etc.; R2, R4 are each H, halogen, 1 to 4C alkyl, etc.; R3 is H, halogen; R5 is H, halogen, phenyl, 1 to 4C alkyl, etc.), by which the desired triazolyl-sulfonamide expressed by formula III [e.g.; 5-methyl-7-cyclopropyl-N-(2,6- dichlorophenyl)-1,2,4-triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine-2-sulfonamide, etc.] ois obtd.
