NEW MATERIAL: A compound of formula I (R is formula II or III; Z is a halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, optionally-substituted phenyl, optionally-substituted phenoxy; m is 0-3, R1 and R2 are each a halogen, alkyl, alkoxy; n and p are 0-2; X is CH2, direct bond), and addition products thereof with acids and metal salts thereof.
EXAMPLE: 1-(4-Fluoro-phenyl)-2-(1-methoxy-cyclopropyl)-3-(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)- propan-2-ol.
USE: A bactericide and a fungicide.
PROCESS: An oxirane of formula IV is reacted with 1,2,4-triazole optionally in the presence of an acid binder and in the presence of a diluent, to form the compound of the formula I. The compound of the formula IV is prepared by reacting a cyclopropyl ketone of formula V with dimethyloxosulfonium methylide of formula VI or dimethylsulfonium methylide of formula VII in the presence of a diluent.
