Title:
TUBULAR BODY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH05305676
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a lightweight tubular body having high strength and rigidity by constituting all of or a part of the tubular body of a planar fiber aggregate composed of a long reinforcing fiber and a thermoplastic fiber and entangling and integrating the thermoplastic fiber with the long reinforcing fiber to form a composite sheet.

CONSTITUTION: A tubular body adapted to a shaft for a golf club, a fishing rod or a frame for a bicycle is entirely or partially constituted of a planar fiber aggregate composed of a long reinforcing fiber and a thermoplastic fiber and formed by the melt molding of a composite sheet wherein the thermoplastic fiber is incorporated in the long reinforcing fiber constituting the planar fiber aggregate to be entangled and integrated with the long reinforcing fiber. As the long reinforcing fiber, a fiber imparting high specific strength and high specific elastic modulus to the tubular body, for example, a carbon fiber is used and, as the thermoplastic fiber, for example, a polyamide fiber or a polyester fiber is used. As the web of the thermoplastic fiber, for example, a staple fiber nonwoven fabric is used from an aspect facilitating the entanglement and integration with the long reinforcing fiber sheet.
