PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tunnel excavator which has a cutter head and a cutter drive unit capable of being easily disassembled from the tunnel excavator body after completing excavation and can be recovered for reuse.SOLUTION: The tunnel excavator include: a tunnel excavator main body 11 having a cylindrical shape; a partition wall 22 which is supported so as to move in a forward and backward with respect to a tunnel; a cutter head 13 which is supported by the partition wall 22 in a rotatable manner; plural cutter spokes 42 with a base end part supported by the cutter head 13 in a rotatable manner and the front end part inclined forward with respect to the tunnel so that the front end part is positioned at the inner side than the inner periphery of the tunnel excavator main body 11; a cutter drive unit 12 that rotatably drives the cutter head 13; and a hydraulic jack 62 that drives the cutter spokes 42 to incline in the forward direction with respect to the tunnel.
