Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide spring seals for sealing between turbine components or elements of a gas turbine engine.SOLUTION: A snap-in annular spring seal 52 of a gas turbine engine includes a continuous or split full 360 degree ring surrounding a centerline axis 12, the ring including a radially outer second seal end 55 separated radially outwardly from a radially inner first end 53 of the ring, and axial biasing means for axially biasing the second seal end 55 away from the first end 53. The axial biasing means may include an axially aftwardly opening conical section 70 connecting the first seal end 53 and the second seal end 55. The second seal end 55 has outer aftwardly opening V-shaped cross-sectional bend 66 or circular cross-sectional bend.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
