In a turnaround device for the packets, the packets, especially the packets (2) of cigarettes, are sequentially supplied thereto. A first surface (4) of the packet forward faces a turnaround station (16) with which the packet is taken out, a second surface (6) is made to forward face by a holding conveyor (17) which passes through the turnaround station in the direction perpendicular to the second surface (6), and the holding conveyor (17) has many grippers (28), so that each of the grippers forms a pocket (36) for the relevant packet (2), when the packet is taken out from the turnaround station in such a state that the second surface (6) of the packet forward faces, and further the each gripper gradually closes on the packet (2) to control the position of the packet.
