In this turret type automatic reel, bobbins 4 are mounted on a pair of bobbin holders 1 installed in a turret machine 2, the yarn is switched, to continuously wind the running yarn on the vacant bobbin while the winding tension of the running yarn is controlled to a proper value. A yarn suction device 8 is installed on the downstream side of a yarn tension adjusting device 6, and on or near a yarn running passage for yarn changing according to the lowering of the tension of the yarn in switching the yarn.
