PURPOSE: To ensure the smooth two-sided recording, by counting the number of sheets of members to be recorded which are stored in an intermediate dish and controling the recording action on the basis of the cunt value of the members to be recorded.

CONSTITUTION: The recording member (paper) which is already copied on its single side is stored temporarily to an intermediate dish 14. Sensors 140A and 140B detect the paper to be stored and fed again respectively. The contents of an up-down counter are counted up by the sensor 140A and then counted down by the sensor 140B to detect the number of sheets of paper on the dish 14. A prescribed copying action is started again during a jam in response to the number of paper sheets.
