PURPOSE: To easily set an erasing operation means in a singly or continuously letter- erasing condition by using a system in which a ribbon vibrator can be repeatedly moved from a standing position to a printing position in the wake of the push- down work of letter keys.
CONSTITUTION: As an erasing operation member 24 turns, the coupling between a side arm 26 and the arm 18a of a ribbon vibrator 18 is released, and the vibrator 18 is set in a state that it can move from a standing position to a printing position. As the erasing operation member 24 further turns toward the second moving position, a working arm 29 is coupled with a pin 36a on an escape-releasing link 36, and the link 36 is turned and separated from a pin 17. Then, when printing operation is perfomed by pushing down the letter key corresponding to plural letters continuously printed by errors under such a condition, a vibrator 18 goes up from a standing position to a printing position in the wake of the rotation of the cam 20, and the letters are erased by an erasing ribbon CR.
