To eliminate the deficiency of an ultrasonic probe that the mechanical sound may make a subject feel uncomfortable and uneasy in performing the mechanical scanning.

A sound source 30 is mounted in a housing 2 of the ultrasonic probe for generating comfortable and soothing sound such as music for a subject. The sound source 30 works by receiving a control signal for a motor 18 inputted from an ultrasonic diagnosis apparatus by way of a cable 26. Thus, by the motor 18 driving gears 20, 22, to mechanically scan a vibrator array 10 sound is always generated from the sound source 30. Since the soothing sound is overlapped with the mechanical scanning sound, the impression given by the mechanical sound on a subject is softened to make the subject at ease without being annoyed with the mechanical scanning sound.
