To provide an ultrasonic wave transmitter which has a wide band and can transmit a high-energy ultrasonic wave into the air.
This ultrasonic wave transmitter includes: an acoustic tube 2 with a space wherein an ultrasonic wave is propagated along with a propagation direction, and an opening through which the ultrasonic wave propagated in the space is emitted; a plurality of transmission elements 4 arranged on an inner lateral side, specifying the space, of the acoustic tube for generating ultrasonic waves; and a driving section 6 for driving the plurality of transmission elements 4. Wherein, the driving section 6 drives the plurality of transmission elements in different timing, based on an acoustic velocity of the ultrasonic wave to be propagated in the space and positions of the plurality of transmission elements, in such a way that ultrasonic waves generated from the plurality of transmission elements, respectively, are propagated to the same position within the space of the acoustic tube with the same phase at the same time.
