Title:
ULTRASONIC WAVE TRANSMITTER/RECEIVER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3170348
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To increase the radiating area of the ultrasonic waves by laminating the vibrators obtaining by arraying many ring-shaped piezoelectric ceramic vibrators and arranging these laminated vibrators in a cylindrical shape to form a wave transmitter vibrator.
CONSTITUTION: The ring-shaped piezoelectric ceramic vibrators 5 are laminated on each other via the sound absorbing materials 2 and then arranging in a cylindrical shape for construction of a wave transmitter vibrator. When the directivity is secured on the front radiating surface of the wave transmitter vibrator by the phase synthesization in both horizontal and vertical directions, the film-shaped piezoelectric materials 6 and 7 having high acoustic permeability and forming the patterns having high electrode density and keeping an arrangement space of λ/2 are molded in both vertical and horizontal directions by means of a sound wave transmitting material for suppression of the side lobes. Thus the materials 6 and 7 are arranged in two layers for construction of a sound receiver vibrator. The same effect is also secured if many divided piezoelectric ceramic vibrators are used instead of the vibrators 5 and the doughnut-shaped vibrators are obtained and laminated on each other.
