To provide an ultraviolet water treatment apparatus and a monitoring device thereof capable of preventing flow out of glass pieces, mercury and treated water having contacted mercury to a post stage of the ultraviolet water treatment apparatus, even if an unexpected state happens.
The ultraviolet water treatment apparatus is provided with a water tank 30 having ultraviolet lamps 5 and protection tubes 6 protecting the lamps 5; a detector 12 detecting breakage of the ultraviolet lamps 5 and protection tubes 6 by at least one of current, voltage and light intensity within the apparatus; a determining device 14 determining the breakage of the ultraviolet lamps 5 and protection tubes 6 based on the breakage information of the ultraviolet lamps 5 and protection tubes 6 detected by the detector 12; and a control part 16 making at least one of a flow-in line controller 2 and a flow-out line controller 10 of the water tank 30 into a closed state, based on the breakage signals output by the determining device 14.
