PURPOSE: The title novel coating compound having durable antifouling activity and little selectivity to attached organisms, comprising 2,2'-dithio-bis-(pyridine-1-oxide) as an active antifouling constituent.

CONSTITUTION: A coating compound comprising (A) 2,2'-dithio-bis-(pyridine-1- oxide) as an active antifouling constituent, and, if necessary, (B) an inorganic or organic antifouling compound, e.g. cuprous oxide, a carbamate, etc., and further (C) pigments, synthetic resins, solvents, etc.

EFFECT: The compound prevents marine organisms, seaweeds, etc. from attaching themselves to ship bottoms, under-water structures, etc., and can be used even on ships made of light metal.
