Abstract:
To provide a universal joint that can provide required bending in laying a duct on a seabed, returns as straight as possible after the laying, and can reduce energy required for water intake by reducing resistance in the duct and in the joint due to bending of the duct during water intake, and also provide a laying method of the duct using the universal joint.
An end of a pipe 1 is provided with a cut surface 2 cut oblique to the longitudinal direction of the pipe, and the pipe 1 having flanges 3 with diameter not smaller than the maximum outer diameter of the cross section of the cut surface is rotatably mounted to the cut surface 2 via respective flanges 3.
