Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an unsaturated polyester which improves a working environment in a lining work because of the low volatility of contained monomers and is excellent in molding workability in FRP lamination because of the flexibility of a cured product, and to provide a method for producing the same.
SOLUTION: The method for producing the unsaturated polyester comprises reacting (A) a mixture of an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid with a monoester monocarboxylic acid prepared by reacting at least two of an acid imidoalcohol component, an alkyl alcohol component having at least one phenyl group, and dicyclopentadienyl- and/or oligocyclopentadienyl-residue containing components with (B) a polyhydric alcohol, (C) the unsaturated polycarboxylic acid and, optionally, (D) a saturated polycarboxylic acid. The unsaturated polyester is one containing at least two residues selected from the group consisting of acid imidoalcohol residues, phenyl-containing alkyl alcohol residues, and dicyclopentadienyl- and/or oligocyclopentadienyl residues as molecular terminal groups.
