To provide an unsealing device capable of preventing a flap F from being damaged and surely unsealing the flap with a simple mechanism.
The unsealing device 1a conveys the envelope E with the closed flap F with the flap arranged upper side and the opposite side of the flap placed at the head side. The unsealing device slightly opens the flap by bending the envelope during conveying by the pickup roll 3 and the handling roll 4 whose conveying speed is slower than that of the pickup roll, further opens the flap by the jet of the air nozzle 6, and completely opens the flap by conveying the envelope while sandwiching the same between the handling roll 4 and the handling plate 5. The problems such as defective paper feeding, damaged envelopes, and defective sealing are not generated, thereby the flap can be surely opened by the simple mechanism because the flap are unsealed in a non-contact manner.
