Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide the upper body structure of an automobile which can increase the stiffness of its body, the stiffness of a body roof section in particular, and thereby can prevent a sun roof unit provided for the body roof section from sinking down.
CONSTITUTION: A roof side rail 4 where a roof side rail inner panel 41 and a roof side rail outer panel 42 are joined and formed into a closed section in cross section, is provided with a horizontal section 430 and a vertical surface 430, the lower surface of the first horizontal section 51 for the bottom wall section of a mounting bracket 5 is joined with the horizontal surface 420 of the roof side rail 4, and the lower surface of an inclined wall section 52 is joined with the vertical surface 430. The body outward end of the roof reinforcing bottom surface section 31 of a roof reinforcement 3 is made to coincide therewith so as to be fixed to the second horizontal section 53 of the mounting bracket 5.
