Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a pharmaceutical composition containing an ACE inhibitor as an active component and effective for suppressing the reduction of blood vessel diameter caused by the formation of a new endoarterial membrane or vascular wall hyperplasy after the damage of blood vessel. CONSTITUTION: This composition contains an ACE inhibitor, preferably alacepril, benazepril, captopril, cilazapril, delapril, enalapril, enalaprilat, fosinopril, lisinopril, pericidopril, quinapril, ramipril, spirapril, zofenopril and MC838 (especially cilazapril), as an active component. The composition is useful for the prevention of the proliferation of the smooth muscle cell of endoarterial membrane and/or vascular media, the migration of smooth muscle cell from vascular media to endoarterial membrane and the formation of extracellular matrix and the treatment and prevention of the formation of new endoarterial membrane after the damage of vessel, restenosis of artery after the vessel forming operation or hyperplasia of blood vessel wall after the operation of vessel. It can be used also for the prevention of arteriosclerosis and diabetic intravascular layer disorder.
