USE OF HYDROPHILIC PENETRANT INTO DERMATOLOGICAL COMPOSITION FOR TREATING ONYCHOMYCOSIS AND CORRESPONDING COMPOSITION

PURPOSE: To improve a penetrating property of an antimycotic agent through nails by formulating an antimycotic agent with a hydrophilic penetrant usually used for percutaneous penetration of an active ingredient.
CONSTITUTION: This dermatological composition for treatment of onychomycosis comprises (A) an antimycotic agent, preferably an allylamine such as terbinafine hydrochloride of formula I or a naftifine hydrochloride of formula IF, (B) a hydrophilic penetrant advantageous for penetration of the component A in a keratinized nail layer of nail and through the layer, e.g. glycol, glycolmono- or di-ether and (C) a solvent medium for the component A, preferably water mixed with a cosolvent selected from a 2-8C alkanol having a straight-chain or branched chain in a ratio of a composition comprising 2-30wt.%, preferably 5-20wt.% component A, 1-60wt.% component B, 10-90wt.% cosolvent and 5-30wt.% water. The component B includes dimethyl sulfoxide, caprolactam, dimethylisosorbide, isopropylidene glycerol or dimethylimidazolinone.
