To obtain a composition for topical application giving a film resistant to abrasion by including a sulfopolyester polymeric pigment.

The objective composition for topical application such as mascara, eye liner, lip-application product, face powder, eye shadow, foundation and make-up cosmetic for body is produced by including a sulfopolyester polymeric pigment in an amount of preferably 0.1-60 wt.%. The sulfopolyester polymeric pigment is e.g. a water-dispersible polymeric pigment containing (A) an acidic monomer containing 75-84 mol% isophthalic acid and 25-16 mol% sulfo-5-isophthalic acid sodium salt, (B) a glycol monomer containing 45-60 mol%; diethylene glycol and 55-40 mol% 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol, ethylene glycol, etc., and (C) 0.5-10 mol% monomeric pigment.
