Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide immunogenic compositions for use in prophylactic treatment or treatment of pneumococcal infection or disease.SOLUTION: The immunogenic composition of the invention comprises an unconjugated protein of Streptococcus pneumoniae being a member of the polyhistidine triad family (PhtX), and an adjuvant composition containing an oil-in-water emulsion (AS03), where the oil-in-water emulsion comprises 0.5-10 mg of metabolizable oil, 0.5-11 mg of tocol and 0.1-4 mg of an emulsifying agent per human dose. In a certain embodiment of the immunogenic composition, the metabolizable oil is squalene and the tocol is α-tocopherol and the emulsifying agent is polyoxyethylene sorbitan monoleate.
