Title:
VACUUM ARC DESCALING METHOD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3229151
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the surface roughness and to reduce the power for treatment without any excessive melting because the cathode spot moves around on the surface of the metal by coating the organic matter whose molecular weight is above the prescribed value on the surface of the metal to achieve the vacuum arc descaling.
CONSTITUTION: In a vacuum arc descaling equipment having a cathode electrode 10 consisting of an anode electrode 11 connected to the positive pole of a vacuum arc power source and a work (metal), after the organic matter is coated on the surface of the work 10, the movement of the cathode spot 14 by the arc discharge is controlled to achieve the treatment. The cathode spot moves on the surface of the work at high speed to prevent the local presence by coating the organic matter whose molecular weight is ≥300 on the surface of the work 10, and no excessive melting is present, the surface roughness is improved, and the power consumption can be reduced. The coating method may include the dipping, the spraying or the physical coating.
