To provide a vacuum cleaner which prevents detachment of a first separation and dust collection portion from a body case because of an impact applied from below to upward with a simple construction while ensuring the ease of fitting of the first separation and dust collection portion.
A body case 26 includes a projection 33 on which a first separation and dust collection portion 27 is placed with its upper part inclined backward. The body case 26 includes a locking opening 59 located backward from the projection 33. The first separation and dust collection portion 27 includes a locking projection 157 detachably locked in the locking opening 59 when turned backward with its front side as a supporting point on the projection 33 and located in its rear part. The locking projection 157 has at least a first surface 157b running along a direction intersecting the direction of detachment of the first separation and dust collection portion 27 with the first separation and dust collection portion 27 being placed on the projection 33, and a second surface 157c running along a direction intersecting the vertical direction with the first separation and dust collection portion 27 being placed on the projection 33.
