A vacuum cleaner includes: a cleaner body 2 internally having an electric blower 8, a switch 9, and an operation body 16; a body operation body 11 arranged in the cleaner body 2; an extension handle 5 to be attachable/detachable to/from the cleaner body 2; an operation handle body 24 arranged in the extension handle 5; an operation rod 23 arranged inside the extension handle 5; and a compression coil spring 17 as energization means for energizing the operation body 16 toward the opposite side of the switch 9. The operation body 16 is reciprocatively movable between the switch 9 and the operation rod 23. An operation part 18 abutted to the switch 9 is arranged on the switch 9 side of the operation body 16. A first abutment part 19 where a distal end 23A of the operation rod 23 is abutted capable of approaching and separating and a second abutment part 20 where an abutment part 12 of the body operation body 11 is abutted capable of approaching and separating are arranged in the operation body 16 in the opposite direction of the switch 9.
