PURPOSE: To use a vacuum leak detecting electrode repeatedly over a long period of time while bringing it into contact in a sufficient contact area with a vacuum leak material to be detected including a CRT frit part.

CONSTITUTION: In a vacuum leak detecting electrode 10, an electrode member to be brought into contact with a vacuum leak material 5 to be detected is composed of a laminated body of an elastic resinous layer 11 and a metallic fiber layer 12 formed outside of the elastic resinous layer 11. Preferably, this elastic resinous layer 11 is formed of electrically conductive resin such as electrically conductive rubber.
