Title:
VALVE CHARACTERISTIC CONTROL FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3189679
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the controlling responsiveness of a valve characteristic control which has a pair of activating mechanisms driven by fluid supplied from a common fluid source.
SOLUTION: A cam shafts 11 the intake side and a cam shaft 12 on the exhaust side are provided with valve timing varying(VVT) mechanisms 13 and 14 respectively. The respective VVT mechanisms 13 and 14 are driven by oil supplied from an oil pump 62 through an outlet path 59, so that the rotational phases of both the cam shafts 11 and 12 are varied relative to those of respective pulleys 30 and 38. A CPU 85 of an electronical contol unit 16 electrically controls respective oil control valves(OCVs) 60 and 80 disposed on the outlet path 59 so as to control oil amount delivered tot herespective VVT mechanisms 13 and 14. The CPU 85 varies either of valve timing of intake valve 23 or exhaust valve 24, which causes an engine 10 to have more increased output torque prior to each other.
