Abstract:

To propose a valve clearance quantity estimating device capable of accurately calculating an actual valve clearance quantity by a further simple method.

This valve clearance quantity estimating device of an internal combustion engine is characterized by calculating a reference quantity VCLRSTD of a valve clearance from the temperature (the engine cooling water temperature TWN) of a valve installing part in a cylinder, and calculating a correction quantity VCLRVAR of the valve clearance from the temperature TV of a corresponding valve, and calculating the actual valve clearance quantity VCL by correcting its reference quantity by the correction quantity.
