Abstract:

PURPOSE:To improve combustion property in extremely light load operating range of an engine, improve starting property and prevent complete stop, in a valve gear which is in a combustion engine and drives an intake valve by the hydraulic valve drive means of which opening and closing characteristics can be altered. CONSTITUTION:An auxiliary intake valve 22 in addition to an intake valve 21 opened, closed, and driven by a hydraulic valve drive means 30 is supported in a cylinder head 4 so that it can be opened, closed, and operated. A mechanical valve drive means 31 for transmitting a rotational movement of an auxiliary valve operating cam 26 mechanically to the auxiliary intake valve 22 is provided between the auxiliary valve operating cam 26 provided on a cam shaft 24 and the auxiliary intake valve 22.
