Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain an easy change in valve closing timing by converting the driving force, which is produced by a revolving cam, into the fluid pressure in a fluid chamber, which is formed between a plunger and a barrel, and closing or opening a discharge valve or an air-intake valve by using this fluid pressure. CONSTITUTION:A plunger 3, which makes reciprocal movement in a barrel 4 on account of the revolution of a cam 1 interlocked with the engine rotation, is prepared, so that an oil pressure chamber 11 can freely be pressurized. A valve closing timing port 7 and a valve opening timing port 8 are separately formed onto the plunger 3 in the vertical direction to the plunger axis, so that oil pressure passages 9 and 10, which are opened to the upper end of the plunger 3, are connected. In addition, timing rings 5 and 6, which close the ports 7 and 8, are fitted to the plunger 3. The timing rings 5 and 6 are slided in the axial direction through the operation of hydraulic actuators 18a and 18b. The oil pressure chamber 11 is connected to an oil pressure chamber 25, which is formed at the upper part of a discharge (or air-intake) valve 17, via a hydraulic pipe 14, and the valve 17 is closed by the oil pressure via a piston 15.
