To provide a valve member which forms a check valve by being mounted on a flow path with a ring-shaped cross section, and demonstrates excellent sealability without damaging a valve plate 11 during distribution, keeping or assembly of the valve member, and to provided a jet head using the valve member.

The valve member is equipped with a mounting cylinder 10 fitted to one sidewall surface of the flow path and the valve plate 11 extended in a tapered shape from the mounting cylinder 10, whose distal end edge is brought into press contact with the other sidewall surface, and a guard ring 13 fitted to the other sidewall surface at a position away from the distal end edge of the valve plate 11 is integrally extended through a connecting piece 12 extended from the distal end part of the valve plate 11. Thus, the distal end edge of the valve plate 11 is protected by the guard ring 13 at all times.
