Title:
VALVE SEAT OF IRON-BASE SINTERED ALLOY AND ITS MANUFACTURE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS60201015
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To lower the abrasion, by making a valve seat of an iron-base sintered alloy, filling pores of the valve seat with an acrylic or polyester type resin, and heating it so that the seating surface is formed with a carbonized film. CONSTITUTION:A powder composition is prepared from graphite powder, carbonyl nickel powder, ferromolybdenum powder, and a special alloy powder made up of carbon/chromium/tunsten/cobalt, cobalt powder, and reduced iron powder, and is mixed with zinc stearate that will serve as a lubricant, the mixture is press molded, and the molded item is sintered under a cracked ammonium gas atmosphere to produce a valve seat 1. The valve seat 1 is impregnated with a polyester type or acrylic type resin so that the pores may be filled with the resin 2. The impregnated seat 1 is heated so that the seating surface may be formed with a carbonized film 31. Due to the solid lubricating function of the carbonized film 31, the valve can be prevented from coming into contact with a metal, and therefore the abrasion can be reduced.
