Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve timing adjusting device capable of ensuring sealability to oil leakage, and extending a life of an elastic member.SOLUTION: A valve timing adjusting device 1 is equipped with a seal structure 70 provided in a groove 55 of a vane rotor 50. The seal structure 70 is equipped with an elastic member 71 stored in the groove 55, and a seal member 72 energized in a diametrical direction by the elastic member 71. The seal member 72 has a sliding surface 723 contacting with a housing 10, and a pair of pressure-receiving surfaces 724 opposite to the vane rotor 50 in a diametrical direction at intervals on both sides in a rotating direction. In the rotating direction, the total length of the width L3 of the pair of the pressure-receiving surfaces 724 is longer than the length obtaining by subtracting the width L2 of the sliding surface 723 from the width L1 of the seal member 72. The seal member 72 can receive energization assist due to hydraulic oil, through the pressure-receiving surfaces 724.
