Title:
VANEFORM CANVAS DEVICE WITH ROTOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6328792
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent exfoliation of an air flow and to enable effective utilization of an incident angle from all azimuthes, by a method wherein a rotor is mounted to the front part of a main vane, a flap is mounted to the rear part, both sides of the main vane are curved in a recessed manner to form films by means of which airtight compartments are partitioned, and injection of compressed air causes formation of a vaneform shape in cross section. CONSTITUTION:A main vane 1 is mounted between the upper and lower end plates of a rotatable canvas column, a rotor 3 being rotatable around a vertical axis is mounted to the front part of the main vane 1, and a flap 4 is mounted to the rear part rotatably around a vertical axis. The both sides of the main vane 1 are curved in a recessed manner, airtight compartments 1 and 1' are partitioned by means of airtight films 2 and 2', and through injection of compressed air, the airtight compartment is inflated to form a vane shape in cross section. Air flows along the front and the rear surface of the main vane are respectively accelerated and decelerated, and a lift L is generated by a Magnus effect and is effectively utilized as a ship hull driving force. This constitution enables utilization of wind in an incident direction from all azimuthes through simple constitution.
