PURPOSE: To prevent trouble due to falling out of a radial bearing press-fitted into a spool of a variable displacement swash plate type compressor.

CONSTITUTION: In a variable displacement swash plate type compressor 100, whose fundamental constitution and operation are not different from the conventional, in order to change a stroke of a piston 28 by steplessly changing a tilt angle of a swash plate 58, a slider 56 of supporting the center of the swash plate 58 is rotatably supported by a radial bearing 66 press-fitted to a center opening 68 of an aluminum alloy-made spool 68 of receiving a control fluid pressure and by a thrust bearing 70 provided in an end face of the spool 68. Since the radial bearing 66 falls out in the axial direction by decreasing a press-fit margin due to a difference or the like of wearing and thermal expansion coefficient and by applying also an influence of vibration, to directly come into contact with the thrust bearing and to generate damage, it is prevented by interposing a collar, manufactured from nonferrous metal or synthetic resin, between these bearings.
