Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the flow resistance of water on an outer circumferential surface of a blade boss when a variable blade is at the opening position to maximize the propeller diameter in a variable diameter propeller for ship use.
SOLUTION: A boss 32a of a variable blade 32 is turnably stored in a recessed part 26 provided in the outer circumferential surface of a propeller boss 12, and one inner surface 261 of the recessed part 26 to be separated from and opposite to each other when the variable blade 32 is at the opening position B, and at least a forward half part of one outer surface 32a1 of the blade boss 32a are formed on an inclined surface S1 in the same direction as the pitch of the variable blade 32, and the water flow is made smooth at an opening part of the recessed part 26.
