PURPOSE: To easily and surely change codes for a lock by a method wherein a setting spacer corresponding to the shape of a key is transferred from a spacer supply mechanism in a member on one side to the side of an engaging mechanism in another member on another side.
CONSTITUTION: With an operating part 40 of a code resetting mechanism 72 thrust in, separating faces of a first block 76 and a second block 78 are made to square with sliding faces of a second member 20 and a circular plate part of a rotary working body 30 and, at the same time, an operating body 82 is positioned to sliding faces of a first member 8 and the member 20. With a key inserted and turned, the working body 30 turns, and thereby an engaging mechanism housing pocket of the working body 30 is made to face a spacer supply mechanism housing pocket of the member 20. As a differently-coded key for changing of code-setting is inserted and is turned until the height of a projecting pin 60 of an engaging mechanism comes to a position K2, a setting spacer 58 is transferred from the engaging mechanism housing pocket to the side of the supply mechanism housing pocket. As the working body 30 is turned further with a key, a mechanism 72 returns, and change of the code is accomplished.
