Title:
VARIABLE VALVE DEVICE OF INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2014098337
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a variable valve device of an internal combustion engine in which an amount of fuel leakage is restricted.

This invention relates to a variable valve device of an internal combustion engine comprising a cam base part, a cam lobe part connected to the cam base part that is swingable between a high position where it is protruded out of the outer periphery of the cam base part and a low position lower than the high position; a biasing member for biasing the cam lobe part toward the high position; a cam follower for biasing the cam lobe part toward the low position; a lock member held by the cam lobe part to lock the cam lobe part to the cam base part at the high position and the low position; and a passage formed at the cam base part for making hydraulic pressure act on the lock member in such a way that it releases a locked state at one position of the high position and the low position of the cam lobe part and locks it at the other position. The passage includes an opening that is retracted when the cam lobe part is placed at the high position and in turn when the cam lobe part is placed at the low position, the lock member oppositely faces. The cam base part is provided with an opening or closing mechanism that closes the opening when the cam lobe part is placed at the high position.
