Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the manufacturing cost of a variable valve device provided with a lift/operation angle variable mechanism and a phase variable mechanism while minimizing the performance deterioration in the device. SOLUTION: The variable valve device has a valve lift/operation angle variable mechanism capable of controlling simultaneous and continuous expansion or reduction of the lift/operation angle of a valve in an internal combustion engine and a phase variable mechanism for advancing or delaying the phase of the lift center angle of the valve, and is characterized in that when the ratio of the controllable range of each variable mechanism to a maximum variable amount variable in each mechanism is defined as a variable ratio, the variable ratio is changed by the temperature of the engine.
