PURPOSE: To lower the vertical height required for conveyance by providing a hanger means movably along carrier rails, and forming this hanger means in such a way that the lower part is closable in the width direction of a vehicle body.

CONSTITUTION: A vehicle body W conveyed into a station formed by erecting supporting poles 21, 21 on both sides of a line is moved up being gripped by a hanger means 2 and then conveyed along carrier rails 3, 3. When the body W is locked by the locking members 2f, 2f of the hanger means 2 opened/closed by opening/closing mechanism, one end part of a chain 23 is wound by the driving of a drive motor 22 disposed at the side part so as to move an elavating frame 24 up, and in association with this, the body W is also moved up. Since a pair of carrier rails 3, 3 are positioned at both side parts of the body W, the vertical height required for conveyance is lowered.
