Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle body rear structure capable of changing the attitude of a stored spare tire from a transverse attitude to an upright attitude by controlling the deformation of a vehicle body rear portion at a time of a rear-end collision.SOLUTION: In response to a force F input at a time of a rear-end collision, a rear side member 3 is controlled to be bent into a generally Z-shape in a side surface to start at a rear side easily bendable part 12 inducing ridge-folding and a front side easily bendable part 11 inducing valley-folding, and a bottom wall 2a of a spare tire pan 2 is deformed into a valley-folded shape to start at a valley-folding point P. As a result, a spare tire T can be made rotatably stood up to generally an upright state by raising a rear end of the spare tire T and, at the same time, the spare tire T can be kept in the upright attitude by holding a lower side portion of the spare tire T between a front wall 2b of the spare tire pan 2 and a front portion of the deformed bottom wall 2a thereof.
