Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a vehicle closure member latch where an actuation sound and the need for lubrication is minimized.
CONSTITUTION: A latch is equipped with a housing 12 that has a metal nib 60 being movably fitted and a base wall 18 having a through hole for receiving a ratchet stud 36, and a ratchet 42 that is pivoted to the ratchet stud and has a metal substrate 46 and a plastic cover 48. Furthermore, the metal substrate has a main latch tooth 56 with an exposure latch surface being positioned so that the metal substrate can be subjected to metal to metal engagement to the metal nib. The metal to metal engagement, an actuation sound, and the need for lubrication are minimized.
