To provide a vehicle control apparatus that prevent an oil temperature from increasing while preventing a vehicle from going down in a status that a stall state of a torque convertor continues during a stop of the vehicle on an uphill to increase the oil temperature of torque convertor.

The apparatus includes: an engine 1; an automatic transmission 3 for transmitting the drive force of the engine 1 to a drive wheel of the vehicle; a braking device for restricting the movement of a wheel of the vehicle; the torque convertor 2 installed between the engine 1 and the automatic transmission 3; an oil temperature sensor 72 for detecting the oil temperature supplied to the torque convertor 2; and a control device 60 for setting the automatic transmission 3 to be in a neutral state in which the driving force of the engine 1 is not transmitted to the drive wheel and for controlling the braking device to lock the wheel when the oil temperature detected by the oil temperature sensor 72 reaches a first predetermined value or higher.
