To provide a vehicle control device without making a device configuration complexed the device which allows door lock control and engine start control to be executed without burdening a user in an emergency.
The vehicle control device comprises an on-vehicle device 6 in which smart communication between a smart functional part 7 and a smart functional part 2 of an electronic key 1 is enabled, and transponder communication between a transponder functional part 8 and a transponder functional part 3 of the electronic key 1 is enabled. An engine start controller 43 and a door lock controller 44 execute engine start control and door lock control respectively under a normal condition, and execute, in emergency, door lock control and engine start control in both of which the door lock control part 44 and engine start control part 43 cooperate based on a transponder control signal S41 of a transponder control part 41.
