To obtain acceleration feeling comfortable for a driver.SOLUTION: A vehicle control method is a control method for a vehicle 100 comprising an electric motor (motor 6) for driving the vehicle, an engine 1 for driving a power generator (motor 2) which generates electricity supplied to the electric motor (motor 6), and a sound output apparatus 9 for outputting sound. Further, in this vehicle control method, after acceleration of the vehicle 100 is started in the state that the engine 1 stops, a magnitude of sound outputted from the sound output apparatus 9 is controlled on the basis of an acceleration degreed and a rotation speed of the engine 1 when the engine 1 is started during acceleration and the engine 1 becomes in a prescribed state suitable for power generation by drive of the power generator (motor 2).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
