Abstract:
To provide a vehicle control method and a vehicle control device capable of controlling an own vehicle anywhere in preparation to a change in behavior of a preceding vehicle.SOLUTION: A vehicle control method for causing a control device to control travel of an own vehicle: performs following control for enabling the own vehicle to travel with a predetermined distance from a preceding vehicle on the same lane; acquires surrounding information of the own vehicle from a device collecting information around the own vehicle; determines that the preceding vehicle is in following travel operation so as to follow a preceding vehicle thereof on the same lane on the basis of the surrounding information; also determines whether or not the following travel operation of the preceding vehicle is completed on the basis of the surrounding information after determining that the preceding vehicle is in following travel operation; and performs inter-vehicle spacing control for making inter-vehicle spacing with the preceding vehicle longer than that in the following control when determining that the following travel of the preceding vehicle is completed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
