Abstract:
To provide a vehicle control system that enables a vehicle to travel based on a minimal-risk-maneuver (MRM), which can enhance safety of an own vehicle and suppress the own vehicle from becoming an obstacle to the other vehicle.SOLUTION: A vehicle control system can execute a normal automatic driving mode and an automatic stopping mode that is executed when a driver cannot intervene in driving although the driver needs to intervene in the driving. The vehicle control system moves an own vehicle 61 so that a side distance between the own vehicle and the other vehicle increases when the own vehicle travels in parallel with the other vehicle 62 such as when the own vehicle 61 is overtaken or passed by the other vehicle 62. When a width of movement in a lateral direction in the automatic driving mode is defined as a first width and a width of movement in the lateral direction in the automatic stopping mode is defined as a second width, the second width is larger than the first width.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
