To provide a vehicle door hinge which ensures holding of an opening/closing position of a door when a chassis is coated, serves as a hinge mechanism for opening/closing the door without arousing an uncomfortable feeling to the user after shipping of the vehicle, and allows a member detached from the hinge to be repeatedly usable.
According to the structure of the vehicle door hinge 1, a pin holding plate 5 is detachably attached to a door-side bracket 3 by means of a screw member 8, and a sleeve 6 is press-fitted onto a hinge pin 4 and fixed to the same. Then the sleeve 6 has a small-diameter portion 6s in a peripheral surface thereof from a location that corresponds to a door fully opened position x to a location that corresponds to a door fully closed position y, and the small-diameter portion 6s is press-bonded to a friction pin 7. Herein the friction pin 7 and the sleeve 6 are each formed of an iron member or a steel member. When the chassis is coated, the door position is held by friction force between the friction pin 7 and the sleeve 6, while the pin holding plate 5 is detached from the door-side bracket 3 after shipping of the vehicle.
